The Santa Barbara Police Department works with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department and no longer distributes crash reports. Santa Barbara Sheriff’s County Office offers four ways to get a copy of your collision report.

In-Person

You can visit the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s County Office in person to obtain a copy of your incident report. You will need to pay the appropriate traffic accident report fee, show your valid photo ID and fill out a Records Request Form. You must also contact the Records Unit before you attempt to pick up your report, to ensure it has been processed and is available for pick up.

Report Request By Mail

You can send a written request to the sheriff’s office, to obtain a copy of your traffic crash report. Fax Requests

Depending on the facts of the accident, it can take an average of seven to ten days before a report has been processed and submitted to the Records Unit. Once a valid report has been processed, it can take up to ten business days to review a records request, after which, it can take an additional ten business days before you receive your report.
