Public Records Request In-Person

You can visit the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department in person and fill out a Records Request Form, pay the appropriate fee, and show a valid photo ID to obtain a copy of your report. A police traffic accident report is a legal document that is created by a law enforcement officer who responds to the scene of an auto accident. This report contains important accident information and details including:

All parties involved in the auto accident are eligible to receive a copy of an unredacted crash report. Additionally, the parent or legal guardian of a minor can also obtain a copy of a traffic report, as can an insurance company, law enforcement agency, vehicle owner, or personal injury attorney.
