A record seeker can visit the East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office during regular business hours and fill out a Public Records Request Form. All applicants must show a valid photo ID and pay the appropriate fee at the time of pick up.

The East Los Angeles Police Department offers two ways to obtain this type of report.

Public Records Request By United States Mail

You can send a written public records request to the East Los Angeles Police Department and include a stamped, self-addressed envelope, payment, accident details, and a copy of your valid photo ID. Include extra payment for any additional copies. Visit the East Los Angeles Police Department’s website or contact the department via phone during regular business hours to find out how to obtain a copy of your traffic collision report online.

Certified copies are $16. Acceptable forms of payment include credit cards, debit cards, money orders, and personal checks.

You should receive a copy of your crash report in ten to twelve business days.

• The police officer’s accident investigation findings, stating how the accident occurred and which party they believe was responsible
• A diagram of the accident scene
• Insurance information
• A description of property damage/vehicle damage
• A description of bodily injuries
