Why Do I Need to Get a Copy of My Collision Police report?

If you have been injured in a car accident, you may be entitled to seek compensation. This can be done by working with a personal injury lawyer to file an insurance claim or a personal injury lawsuit. The accident report can serve as evidence to help bolster your claim, providing details such as the responding police officer’s opinion on how, when, and where the accident occurred and who was at fault, a description of your injuries, your vehicle’s damages, witness statements, citations issued for traffic violations, and other relevant information. A skilled personal injury lawyer can utilize this information to negotiate a comprehensive settlement that adequately covers your expenses.

DUI/DWI/Other Crimes

If the other driver was charged with a DWI, DUI, or other criminal offense, you can still pursue compensation by filing an insurance claim or a personal injury lawsuit. The other driver’s criminal case will be handled separately from your civil case. Your personal injury lawyer will use your auto accident report and other legal documentation to help you negotiate a fair settlement for your losses, such as pain and suffering, lost wages, vehicle damage, and other damages.
